SARI stands for ‘SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors’ and are an essential aspect of any safe warehouse operation.
A SARI is considered a 'Competent Person' to inspect your storage racks and is recognised by the HSE as someone with the ability to provide a high standard racking inspection that complies with all safety guidelines.

What is SEMA?

SEMA is the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association.
Established in 1968, this trade body represents the interests of the storage industry, sharing best practice and setting guidelines to continually improve industry standards.
​
SEMA consider all areas of safety and best practice within all aspects of the storage industry from the design, manufacture, installation, maintenance and inspection of all storage solutions.
​
By following SEMA guidelines and ensuring your racking inspections are carried out by SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors (SARI’s), you can ensure that you are demonstrating your commitment to safety in the workplace and adhering to the highest working standards.

Why should I use a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector?
​
Following the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, employers have a legal obligation to routinely inspect any ‘work equipment’ which could deteriorate or be damaged. Storage racking falls within the definition of ‘work equipment’ and as such, any damage can not only be commercially disastrous and dangerous to work around, but it is also a legal requirement for any business to repair any damage.

By utilising DC’s Racking Inspection services, you are not only complying with your legal requirements, but you are also ensuring that damage or improvements can be picked up on in due course. All aspects of your storage racking can be assessed, and our experts will be able to guide you on any safety improvements or potential risks with your current racking system.

We always recommend that your business conducts regular racking inspections internally and also receives a Racking Inspection, carried out by a SARI at least every 12 months as a minimum.
