What is Push Back racking?

Push back racking is a highly efficient pallet storage system designed to maximise storage space, decrease loading and unloading times and minimise potential contact damage between pallets due its uniquely engineered movement design.

The ideal storage solution for any business looking to ensure that storage space is optimised whilst operating efficiencies are maximised with a single access point for loading and unloading and an automated movement of loads to the within the racking when the front pallet is added or removed.

How does Push Back Racking work?

The use of shuttles or rollers within the racking allows for storage of new loads by pushing previous ones towards the back of the rail when added. Conversely, when the first unit load is unloaded, the adjacent positions slide in a controlled way towards the unloading position. Ideal for quick, easy loading/unloading and effective stock control.

Using a Last-in First-out method of storage, both rollers and shuttles can be utilised to manoeuvre loads within the racking, this allows forklifts to access at a single point and maximises storage capacity of push back racking.

  • Push back racking with shuttles: In this system using shuttles, each load, except the last one, is deposited on a shuttle, which moves on rails using a slight incline to move throughout the racking.

  •

  • Push-back with rollers: The pallets are moved through the racking using specially designed roller beds that are fixed to the structure with a slight incline.

Who do we recommend push back racking for?

The main advantages of push back racking systems are their efficient use of space and rapid loading and unloading speeds since the forklift does not need to access the racking to remove the load. This makes them a perfect solution for any business looking to maximise space and improve operating efficiencies.

Ideal for businesses with wide variety of products, each aisle can be reserved for a specific product line, the versatility, and unique mechanics of push back racking make it a great solution for most storage needs.
